What whole-home dehumidifier repair involves
A whole-home dehumidifier is connected to your ductwork and works with your heating and cooling system, instead of sitting in a basement corner and needing its bucket emptied. When it stops working, the cause is usually one of a few things.
We check the controls and humidistat, the electrical connections and fan, the coil or collection components, the condensate drain and the airflow through the unit. We also look at the air conditioner it works alongside, because a system that cools without removing moisture is often the real source of the problem. Whole-home dehumidifier repair questions
How do I know my whole-home dehumidifier has failed?
Common signs are a house that feels sticky even when it is cool, a musty smell, condensation on windows or vents, or a humidity reading on your control that stays high. These can also come from the air conditioner, which is why we test both.
Is it a dehumidifier problem or an air conditioner problem?
Sometimes it is both. An air conditioner that is dirty, oversized or low on refrigerant can leave a house humid, and a failing dehumidifier can leave it damp even when the air conditioner works. We check each part so you pay to fix the right one.
Should I repair or replace it?
It depends on the age of the unit, what failed and what the repair costs. We give you the repair price and, if replacement looks better, a free estimate, and you decide.
Do you work on weekends and nights?
Yes. Our technicians are available 24 hours a day for emergency heating and air conditioning repair. Call 615-200-7757.
